Training, Cert, TechNet Now Under Microsoft Learning
Microsoft consolidates training, Microsoft Press and Technet development under umbrella of new group headed by Lutz Ziob.
According to a press release that Microsoft issued on its Web site, the company
"has unified three of its business units within the Content Development
and Delivery Group—Microsoft Training and Certification, Microsoft Press
and Microsoft TechNet subscriptions—to establish a central source for integrated
learning solutions." That new group, Microsoft Learning, will be headed
by Lutz Ziob, who will take on general manager duties for the group.
Microsoft only recently has looked for ways to apply a nascent training term, "blended learning," to the various product lines without overlapping development efforts. Thus, developers among the groups will collaborate in the
development of new training, certification, self-study kits, TechNet papers,
Webcasts and online educational resources. Products coming out of this new group
will be branded with the unifying moniker, "Microsoft Official Learning
Products," says the press release. The company also plans to develop more
customized training delivery approaches, such as Microsoft Official Clinics
and Microsoft Official Workshops that will be delivered through partners via
CTECs.
Microsoft says that certification and training candidates should feel no measureable,
negative impact from the changes and should consider proceeding with current
training plans.
