Reminder: Developer Exams in Beta Next Week
Qualified MCSD candidates can take new security-based developer exams for free; exams set for April 21 beta testing.
Reminder: Candidates for the Microsoft Certified Software Developer
certification have a chance to take two exams for free next week:
- 70-330 Implementing Security for Applications with Visual Basic .NET
(numbered 71-330 while in beta)
- 70-340 Implementing Security for Applications with Visual C# .NET
(71-340 while in beta)

The exams are free for those candidates who are sent an invitation to take
the exam during the beta period. According to posts on several public newsgroups,
invitations hit candidates' e-mail inboxes the same week as the Microsoft
Learning Web site announced the exams. Microsoft typically sends invitations
to subscribers of its MCP Newsflash newsletter, but the selection
process that the company uses remains a well-guarded mystery. (To read more

Both the 70-330 and 70-340 exams also count as electives under the MCAD.NET
and the MCDBA titles; as of this writing, however, the requirements guides
for those titles still do not include the new exams.
