Microsoft Releases Class Server 4.0
Latest version of educational portal solution is cool for school.
Microsoft’s investment in the education industry continues with the release
of Microsoft Class Server 4.0, the latest version of its learning management platform
for grades K-12, announced at the Florida Education Technology Conference in Orlando,
Florida.
Building on the framework of Microsoft’s SharePoint solution, which allows
enterprise-class organizations to internally and externally collaborate on projects,
Microsoft Class Server 4.0 enables educators to create and deliver lessons and
assignments their students can complete using a Web browser. With Class Server
4.0, teachers and students can access their learning tools using a single user
interface based on SharePoint 2.0 and the Learning Gateway portal solution.
“The number of applications educators are using in their day-to-day activities
continues to increase as schools strive to meet reporting goals and improve
student achievement,” said Anthony Salcito, general manager of Education
for the U.S. Public Sector at Microsoft. “As a result of listening to
the needs of both educators and their IT administrators, we've developed Class
Server 4.0 to serve as a single interface that can help remove barriers to instructional
technology tools.”
Microsoft Class Server is used in more than 64 countries and is available as
customized solutions through Microsoft-approved solution providers. Federal
funding under the No Child Left Behind act may be applied toward acquisition
