From the business wires this week: a GPMC tool for change control, free network monitoring software, and Microsoft invests in LapLink.

DesktopStandard Corporation announced the beta release of GPOVault, a Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) extension, which provides change control capabilities Microsoft’s GPMC doesn’t. GPOVault adds change control, notification, approval, rollback, offline editing and difference reporting by directly integrating into Microsoft’s GPMC. The free tool will also be shipped in a server-licensed enterprise edition. http://www.desktopstandard.com

Dorian Software Creations, Inc. released a software bundle for event log management. The Dorian Software Express Pack comes with Event Alarm, Event Achiever and Event Analyst, which make up the company’s Total Event Log Management Solution, for monitoring, collecting and analyzing event log data. GFI is releasing a freeware version of GFI Network Server Monitor 6. The freeware version of the networking monitoring software offers all the functionality of the full version but is limited to three servers. "This investment demonstrates our commitment to meeting the needs of an increasingly global and mobile workforce."
