Partner Program Adds New Office Exams

If information posted on a testing provider's Web site is correct, Microsoft Partner competency exams will feature Office exams.

UPDATE: If information posted on a testing provider's Web site is correct, Microsoft Partner competency exams will feature Office exams.

According to information on the Pearson VUE testing site, Microsoft is expected to release beta exams for Office 2003:

  • 71-137: Developing Office Solutions using XML with Office Professional Enterprise Edition 2003
  • 71-138: Planning and Building a Messaging and Collaboration Environment Using Office System and Windows Server 2003
  • 71-139: Deploying Business Desktops with Windows Server 2003 and Office 2003

It's likely the exams will be numbered 74-137, 74-138, and 74-139 when the exams are released to the general public. According to Lead Product Manager with Microsoft Learning Al Valvano, the exams are all part of a requirement of the Information Worker Solutions Competency of the Microsoft Certified Partner program. "These exams will not earn an individual a MCP, nor will they count as electives for MCAD, MCSD, MCSA or MCSE," said Valvano.

Microsoft doesn't comment on exams in development, such as these ones, and would not confirm when the exams would be available in beta testing form. Beta exams for the Partner competency program are typically offered for free to qualified individuals via invitation only to those who participating in the Microsoft Certified Partner program.
